Joseph W. “Bill” Hamilton II, 76, of New Philadelphia passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15, 2018 in the Community Hospice Truman House.
Born February 28, 1942 in Akron, he was a son of the late Dr. Joseph W. and Beverly Horn Hamilton. Bill was also preceded in death by an infant brother.
Bill proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Marine Corp. Following the military, he was employed at the Times Reporter, and later, retired from the Massillon Independent in 2004 after many years of service. He was a member of the New Phila Elks, and in his spare time, he enjoyed being with his family and playing golf.
Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon Peveto Hamilton, whom he married on October 15, 1983; children, Billy Hamilton, Heather (Josh) Penso both of New Philadelphia, Christy (Brian) Flores of Galena, Ohio; brother, Al Hamilton of Colorado; sister, Judy Straight of Dover; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 20 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor David Wing officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-7 pm.
