Josephine A. “Jo” Alesiano, beloved member of the Dover community, passed away on June 9, 2024 lovingly surrounded by her family.
Born on October 19, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Gemma (Ricchetti) Contini. Josephine was known for her warm personality, humor and dedication to her family and friends. 

On September 20, 1949 she married Francis J. "Frank" Alesiano, whom she met while she was singing in the Swing Masters band at Leonard's Restaurant. Jo enjoyed all genres of music and even recorded and album with the band. The couple was married for 60 years before Frank preceded her in death on October 2, 2009.  She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Craig Beattie; sister, Mary Hooper; and brothers, Leonard Contini, John Contini, Vincent Contini, and Rocco Contini.  

Josephine was a graduate of Dover High School and furthered her education at the School of Cosmetology in Cleveland. In her professional life, Josephine was the proud owner and beautician at Elite Beauty Salon in Dover. Her talent as a hairdresser spanned 25 years, during which she touched the lives of many with her skills and creativity. 

Outside of work, Josephine found joy in hosting gatherings and cooking for her family. Her passion for cooking was evident to all who had the pleasure of tasting her creations. In addition to her culinary skills, she was an avid reader who visited the public library weekly. Josephine enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, baking, riding her bike, and walking. Her active lifestyle reflected her vibrant spirit and love for the outdoors.

Josephine was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the Dover Tornado Club. She took great delight in sharing her baking talents with the school and fellow members of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Josephine will be dearly missed by her children;  Buffy (Tim) Monteith of Dover, Pamela Beattie of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Drusilla “Dee” Ritenour of Dover and Frank (Cindy) Alesiano of Dover, along with three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

Private services will be held with burial at St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery in Dover. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover has been entrusted with her arrangements.  To sign an online guestbook for Josephine, visit the obituary link on the funeral home's website.  

Josephine supported numerous charities and was extremely passionate of the veterans who served our country.  Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project
