Josephine ''Grandma'' Zifer

Josephine M. “Grandma” Zifer, 104, of Dover, died Sunday, October 13, 2002 in the Morning View Care Center at New Philadelphia.

In 1923, she, along with her late husband Tony, began operation of the family�(TM)s store on the Boulevard now known as Grandma Zifer�(TM)s Pizza.

Born January 5, 1898 in the village of Oriola in Consenca, Italy, she was daughter of the late Michael & Mary Nuzzi.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover.

Her husband, Anthony “Tony” Zifer died in 1966.

Survivors include: a daughter; Katherine “Katie” Haswell of New Philadelphia, son; Tony Zifer of Columbus, eight grandchildren; Jeff Zifer, Bob Kimmel, Ray Hisrich, Roger Zifer, Kenny Zifer, Ron Zifer, Barbara Zifer and Nancy Zifer, numerous great grandchildren, lifelong friends Ruth & Rocco Polce of Dover.

In addition to her parents and husband, Josephine was preceded in death by a daughter Connie Hisrich.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, October 17, at 10:30am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Dover. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover on Wednesday from 6-8pm. Christian Wake services will be held Wednesday at 7:30pm.
