Josephine Javens, 97, of Dover passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born on October 12, 1919 in Marion, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Clementina) Frank. Josephine graduated from Harding High School in Marion with the class of 1938. She attended Safford Business School in New Philadelphia. On September 16, 1950 she married the love of her life, Ralph L. Javens Sr., who preceded her in death on April 15, 2007. She was also preceded in death by three sisters; Carmella (Joe) Pace, Tonetta (Pam) Cercone, Catherine (Charles) Greco; and her brother, Bruno (Margaret) Frank.
Josephine worked as a bookkeeper for Borden Dairy in New Philadelphia. She also worked for George Waikem and Harry Humphries, and was a bookkeeper for the Tuscarawas County YMCA for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover and a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter; Teena (Denny) McCreery of Dover; three sons, Tim Javens of Dover, Jeff Javens of Dover, Ralph (Sally) Javens Jr. of Morrow, Ohio; three grandchildren, Samantha McCreery of Morgantown, WV, Jackie (Kevin)Downes of Magnolia Rich (Nikki) Balcarcel of Columbus, along with four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In honoring Josephine's wishes, there will not be public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 11:00am with Father Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery in Dover.
