Josephine Kertel Dale Magnacca Wilson, 87, of Dover, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 in the Country Club Retirement Center, where she had resided for the past four years.
Her life�(TM)s work was caring for her family as a homemaker, but she did enjoy working part-time outside of the home. She was employed as a waitress at Iacomini�(TM)s in Akron and assisted with her family�(TM)s Roswell restaurant “Magnacca�(TM)s.” She retired in 1976 from Union Hospital where she had worked in the Dietary Department.
Born April 20, 1916 at Carrollton, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Helena Kovac Kertel.
Josephine was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover and was a former member of the St. Elizabeth Church at Roswell where she belonged to the Altar Society.
She was exceptional in the kitchen and will be long remembered for baking delicious pies and cookies that were favorites for so many friends and family members.
Josephine shared her life with the three special men that she married, all of whom preceded her in death. Her first husband, August Dale, died June 4, 1956. Her second husband, William Magnacca, passed away August 17, 1969, while her third husband, Ernest Wilson, died on February 3, 1996.
Survivors include: son, August (Shirley) Dale, Sr. of Sherrodsville and their children, Lisa Pfouts, Denise Nedrow, Carolyn Jones and August “Gus” Dale, Jr; son, Bob (Paulette) Dale of Creston, Ohio and his daughters, Jennifer Ritchey and Connie Dale; daughter, Marian (Fred) Wyman of Dover and her daughter, Debbie Wyman; three step-daughters, Mary Shotwell of Strasburg, Eileen Wassem and Marlene (Junior) Nedrow both of Dover; a step-son, Louis (Norma) Magnacca of Dover; a sister, Helen Lizewski of Wickliffe, Ohio; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Josephine was preceded in death by: a daughter, Jospehine Dale; a sister, Frances Snyder; and two brothers, Albert and Charles Kertel.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 27 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Leesville Cemetery.
Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover on Saturday, one-hour prior to services.
