Josephine Marec, 89, of Stone Creek, died Friday, July 2, 2004, with her family at her side at Park Village Health Care Center, Dover. The cause of death was leukemia. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Beloved, she will always be remembered by her wonderful smile and gentle spirit that will live on in the hearts of family and friends.
Born October 15, 1914 in West Liberty, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Victoria E. Slusar Nagorney. Josephine married Peter Marec in Cleveland in 1936. There she raised her family.
Josephine and Peter retired to the rolling hills near Stone Creek in the late 70�(TM)s. They greatly enjoyed the beauty of nature that surrounded them. She loved flowers and growing things.
She was a long-time member of St. Michael Church, Cleveland, and was presently a member of St. Joseph Church, Dover.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (James) Bald of Springfield, VA, and Eileen (John) Cernea of Bay Village; two sons, David (Laura) Marec of Brea, CA, and Kenneth (Ryoko) Marec of New York, NY; six grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; and a sister, Blanche L. Claren of Parma.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear husband, Peter, on August 31, 1992; two sisters, Regina Nagorney and Madeline Milewski; and a brother Frank Nagorney.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 6, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Joseph Church. Msgr. George J. Schlegel will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Stone Creek Cemetery.
