Josephine "Jo" McCreery, 85, of Dover, died Friday, October 1, 2010, in Park Village Health Care Center, following an illness of six months.
Born September 4, 1925, in New Philadelphia, Jo was a daughter of the late John and Dora Anderson Hinig. She attended school in Dover, graduating from Dover High School in 1943. Jo was a loving homemaker who also worked outside the home for the City of Dover and then for the GTE Credit Union (later Eastern Credit Union) from which she retired.
Jo was a lifelong member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dover, and gave freely of her time, volunteering at Dover Middle School and Union Hospital. She made it a point to visit friends and acquaintances who were sick, shut-in or in nursing homes, and often took those who were in need of transportation to doctor's appointments. Jo liked to crochet and made many blankets for those whom she visited. When she had spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include a daughter, Chris (husband, Clint) Randles of Dover; two sons, Scott (wife, Vicki) McCreery of Bolivar and Denny (wife, Teena) McCreery of Dover; six grandchildren, Tim (wife, Kyrsten) and Logan (wife, Heather) Randles, and Abby, Clay, Samantha and Jackie McCreery; one great-granddaughter, Evyn Randles; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her husband of forty-eight years, Rollin "Mac" McCreery in 1995; two infant children; and a sister, Karen White.
