Joyce A. Ruof, 75, a lifelong Dover resident, died peacefully, Thursday, Apr. 23, 2009, in Union Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born, Mar. 11, 1934, in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Finus Logan and Ida Lucinda Beatty Vaughn. Joyce was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Dover.
Home and family were at the center of her life. Joyce was always available to help, listen and otherwise care for those she loved. She very much enjoyed keeping up her yard and growing flowers, along with reading while at the same time listening to her "stories" (soap operas). Joyce liked to travel with her husband, Kelly, and to tell about the places she'd been and her adventures. In addition, Joyce was an excellent bowler, and was inducted into the Dover-New Philadelphia Bowling Association's Hall of Fame in 1982.
Survivors include her husband, Curtis "Curt" or "Kelly" Ruof, whom she married on Dec. 29, 1981; two daughters, Kathy (Jerry) Lenarz of Dover, and Carole (Michael) Johnson of Phenix City, AL; a son, Ricky Lynn Kreiter of Blountstown, FL; step-children, Diana (E. Robert) Jones of Mineral City, and Edgar Ruof of Miami, FL; grandchildren, Herb Kreiter of San Jose, CA, Jason (Jammie) Kreiter of Concordia, KS, Angela (Paul) Schmidt and Crystal (Bill) Becker, both of Smiths, AL, Scotty Johnson of Fayetteville, NC, Benjamin (Sara) Kreiter of Sanford, FL, Ashley (Chad) Wombles of Phenix City, Daniel Kreiter of Deland, FL, Bradley (Tori) Kreiter of Orlando, FL, Samuel (Lisa) Lenarz of New Philadelphia, and Laura Lenarz of Dover; step-grandchildren, Wendy (Matt) Cush of Bolivar, Davey (Kari) Jones and Jeremiah (Crystal) Jones, both of Dover, and Coney (Dana) Digenova of New Philadelphia; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Victoria "Katie" (Robert) Zuchegno of Dover; two brothers, Roger L. Vaughn of Valrico, FL, and Jerry (Betty) Vaughn of Franklin, TN; a sister-in-law, Polly Vaughn of Canton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert C. "Bud" Kreiter; her second husband, Frank W. Moliski; a beloved daughter, Debbie Jo Kreiter; two sisters, Mabel Joan Amabeli and Sarah Louise Withers; and by four brothers, Norman Leo, Kenneth I., Glenn B. and Larry Wayne Vaughn.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Apr. 27, at 10:30 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Rev. Michael W. Lowry of St. John's United Church of Christ, Dover, officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
