Judythe L. "Judy" Vanmeter

Judythe L. “Judy” VanMeter, age 70, of Port Washington, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018, in Schoenbrunn Healthcare, New Philadelphia.

Born June 13, 1948, in Dover, Judy was a daughter of the late William A. Murphy and Dorothy Jane Gowins Murphy Zoelle. She graduated from high school in 1966, and was employed by the Stark County Department of Child and Family Services from which she retired thirty years of service. In retirement, she worked for Dr. Diana Brewster in Canton. Judy enjoyed traveling - especially when it involved driving, reading, and caring for her cat, Boots.

Survivors include her son, Ronald L. VanMeter of Alliance; her sisters, Betty Lanzer of Stone Creek, and Pam (Harry) Myers of New Philadelphia; and her nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her brothers, William A. and James A. Murphy, and William Michael Zoelle.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Sunday, September 16, 2 - 4 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 17, at 1:30 p.m., in the funeral home, with Pastor Trent Thompson of NewPointe Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Stone Creek Cemetery.
