Julia F. (Snyder) Lieser

Julia F. (Snyder) Lieser, 92, of Dover passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in the Park Village Health Care Center.

Born April 22, 1925 in New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Mary Richardson Snyder. Julia was also preceded in death by her husband, John M. Lieser, on November 3, 2003; son, Steven M. Lieser; sister, Pauline Spahr, and daughter in law, Kay Lieser.

She graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1943, and on November 20th she married John M. Lieser; they spent the next 60 years together before his passing in 2003. Julia was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover, where for many years she was Secretary of the Church Council. She was also a long-time member of the Publication Committee and a teacher of the Adult Bible Class. Julia was a skilled seamstress and an avid reader, for many years she was a published author of non-fiction for young people. She was a faithful participant in the Twinges class at the YMCA since 1991.

Julia is survived by her children, David Lieser of Maine, Dan (Linda) Lieser of South Carolina, Edward Lieser of Newbury, Mary Ann Lieser of Wooster; grandchildren, Michael and Eric (Sara) Lieser, Elizabeth Lieser, John “Jack”, Susanna, Priscilla, Peter, Marina, Jerusha and Linnea Savage; and one great grandchild, Zachary Lieser.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7 at 1:30 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
