Julie G. Schmidt

Julie G. Schmidt, 56, of New Philadelphia died Monday, September 1, 2014 in the Community Hospice House following a brief battle with cancer.

Julie was previously a preschool teacher at the former United Way Daycare and Preschool in New Philadelphia.

Born September 15, 1957 in Dover, she is the daughter of the late Fern (Baker) Aul and is survived by her father and step mother Fred and Mary Jane (Kennedy) Aul of Strasburg.

She was a member of the Christian Lighthouse in New Philadelphia. She was a 1976 graduate of Strasburg Franklin High School. She loved children and was an animal lover. She especially enjoyed caring and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her father and stepmother, she will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Jennifer Schmidt of New Philadelphia and Angela (Daniel) Curran of Midvale; three grandchildren Kylee and Mason Curran and Jackson Fawcett and was eagerly expecting soon the birth of two more grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Sandra (Donald) Hughey of South Carolina and a brother, Jeff (Lisa) Aul of Bolivar and her longtime companion, Shawn Gray of New Philadelphia.

A celebration of Julie's life will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014 beginning at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Rev. Billy Hall officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Christian Lighthouse at New Philadelphia. Following the service, cremation will take place and she will be privately laid to rest in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg.
