June E. Becker, 87, a lifelong resident of Dover passed away Monday, March 24, 2014.
June was born June 30, 1926 in Dover, the daughter of the late Vernon T. and M. Marie (Hartman) Grimm.
She and her husband, Bob formerly owned and operated the Becker Farms in Dover for many years.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover. She also belonged to the Brandywine Grange and the Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed playing bridge. She was a lifelong member of Ye Old Bridge Club having found it with her friends right out of high school, playing until she was 86. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved spending the winter months in Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Robert J. Becker who died December 25, 2005. She was also preceded by her son in law, Paul Tharp; a grandson in law, Sam Sayre and two brothers and a sister, Dale and Gene Grimm and Doris Berkey.
June will be sadly missed by her family including her four daughters, Amelia "Millie" (Don) Page of New Philadelphia, Margaret "Peg" (Joseph John) Krantz, Shirley Tharp, and Jane Wallick all of Dover; nine grandchildren, Michelle Sayre, Christopher (Melody) Page, Stacey (Travis) Neff, Terry (Keeley) Krantz, David (Stephanie) Krantz, Shawn (Erika) Tharp, Nathan (Mindy) Tharp, Zachary (Lauren) Wallick and Lindsey Wallick along with fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson. In addition, she is survived by five brothers and two sisters, Jack Grimm of Finley, Max Grimm of Reno, Nevada, Tom (Etta) Grimm of Dover, Bob Grimm of Sparks, Nevada, Russell "Jim" (Kay) Grimm, Jane (Dan) Mason, and Nancy (John) Goss all of Dover; a sister in law, Peg Grimm of Florida and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services celebrating June's life will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014 beginning at 11:00am in the St. John's United Church of Christ at Dover with Rev. Tom Dunkle officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Bob at the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday from 4-7pm.
