June M. Thomas

June M. Thomas, 83, of 136 Karns Dr., Dover, Ohio died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 in the Community Hospice (Truman House) at New Philadelphia following complications from congestive heart failure.

In her earlier years, June worked for Chase Bank in Coshocton and later assisted her husband, Don in the operation of his carpentry business.

Born April 8, 1933 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Guy H. and Beulah (Auman) Carpenter. In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Grimes.

She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Dover, life member of the Order of Eastern Star in Coshocton, member of the Tuscarawas County Senior Center. She was a 1951 graduate of Dover High School and attended Kent State University.

She was an avid bridge player and achieved Life Master in Duplicate Bridge Club in 2000. She also enjoyed quilting and working on jig saw puzzles.

June will be sadly missed by her family including her husband of 63 years, Donald D. Thomas who were married in the Grace Lutheran Church at Dover on Oct. 11, 1953; three sons, Brad (Erin) Thomas of Windsor, California, Scott E. Thomas of Costa Mesa, California and Bill (Gina) Thomas of Chicago, Illinois; two grandsons, Jordan and Jonah Thomas and a sister, Shirley Corpman of Dover.

A funeral service celebrating June's life will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016 beginning at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Rev. Donald Rice officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-5pm.
