Katherine E. Skinner

Katherine E. Skinner, age 97, of Stow, and formerly of Dover, died Sunday, October 20, 2013, in Stow-Glen Retirement Village.

Born January 10, 1916, in Lindentree, near Mineral City, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ada Strouse Owens. Katherine graduated from Grand Ledge High School, Grand Ledge, Michigan, in 1934, and a little over a year later, on September 18, 1935, married Kenneth Earl Skinner. The couple reared two daughters, and shared nearly sixty-one years of marriage before Earl's passing on May 12, 1996. Katherine was a loving homemaker who especially enjoyed her grandchildren and all of their progeny. She was fond of reading, was a member of the Mogadore United Methodist Church, and volunteered at Akron Children's Hospital.

Survivors include her two daughters, Jackie (Herb) Shreiner of Massillon, and Sharon Walker of Stow; her five grandchildren; her nine great-grandchildren; and her two great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, and her beloved Earl, a great-grandson preceded Katherine in death.

Katherine's life will be celebrated in a private family service in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, officiated by Pastor David Wing. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park.
