Katherine Johnson, 94, of Dover, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in Park Village Health Care Center.
She was born July 8, 1917 at Caldwell, the daughter of George and Susie Safigan Wuletich.
Katherine was a faithful and devoted member of St. Joseph Church in Dover, having been active with Christian Mothers, Secular Franciscans and the St. Martin Study Club. She was gifted with skilled hands that assisted her in creating beautiful quilts and afghans for members of her family. Katherine had a great love for her family and a deep caring for her friends and neighbors as well. She was a cafeteria aide at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School until she was 90 years old.
On February 6, 1943 she married the love of her life, Jaye Allan Johnson. The two shared 42 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on April 20, 1985.
Surviving family members include: the couple's five children, Elizabeth (Larry) Fulton of Dover, George (Judy) Johnson of Greensboro, NC, David (Mary) Johnson of Canton, Kay (Al) Ott of Dover and Tom (Stephanie) Johnson of New Philadelphia; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; her three sisters, Emily Chicwak of Caldwell,
Mary Ann "Babe" Michael of Akron and Betty Ann Wuletich of Caldwell; two brothers, David "Emil" Wuletich of Charleston, WV and Edward Wuletich of Caldwell; and two sisters-in-law, Gail Johnson of Bucyrus and Betty Johnson of Tuscon, AZ.
Along with her parents and husband, a brother, two sisters and a daughter-in-law preceded Katherine in death.
Fr. Jimmy Hatfield and Katherine's brother, Deacon David Wuletich, will preside over a funeral mass in celebration of her life on Monday, August 8, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Dover. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Calvary Cemetery and a meal for family and friends will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center following the committal service. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover on Sunday from 2-5 p.m., with Christian Wake services at 5:00 p.m.
