Katherine L. Meese

Katherine L. Meese, 79, of Dover passed away suddenly at Union Hospital in Dover on Saturday, August 5, 2017.

Katherine was born in her home in New Philadelphia on January 20, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Paige and Cathrine (Griffey) Jones. She married Richard Dean Meese, who preceded her in death in October of 1978. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Doreen Meese; son, Tim Meese; and her brother, Richard “Dickey” Jones.

She worked as a waitress at several local restaurants. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Tuscarawas County Senior Center. Katherine attended the Church of God in Midvale, and the Goshen Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, and looked forward to her weekly Wednesday card club with friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by her children; Margaret (Richard) Cook of Corcoran, CA, Dean (Julia) Meese of Bolivar, Jacqueline (Harvey) Smart of Freeport, and Lori (Donald) Smith of Uhrichsville; brothers and sisters, Bonnie Baldwin of Dover, Donald (Beth) Jones of Alaska, Susie Nichols of Zanesville, Donna (Keith) Dalton of Zanesville; step brothers, Everett (Marilyn) Evans, and Calvin Evans; along with eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 1:00-2:00pm. Pastor Andy McClung will officiate a service starting at 2:00pm.
