Kathleen Andreas

Kathleen Harris Andreas, 89, of Dover, Ohio, passed away peacefully November 5, 2008 at Union Hospital. She was born on November 26, 1918 in New Philadelphia, Ohio to the late George and Catherine Jones Harris. Her brother George Harris, Jr., preceded her in death.

In 1936, Kathleen graduated from New Philadelphia High School and worked as a bookkeeper in the offices of Dr. C. J. Miller. She married Dale Isaac Andreas of Dover, Ohio on October 23, 1938 and together they raised two children, Kathie Andreas Judkins and Dale Howard Andreas. Kathleen and Dale enjoyed 63 years of a loving marriage at the time of his passing in September of 2002.

An exceptional homemaker, Kathleen loved preparing her family's favorite foods and in 1957 was featured in the "Culinary Corner" of the Daily Reporter. She often shared recipes with family and friends. As a devoted mother and proponent of quality education, Kathleen served as treasurer of the Dover South Elementary School PTA for many years. She was also a member of the Dover chapter of the Child Conservation League, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star.

Kathleen always looked forward to family gatherings with daughter Kathie and her husband Nathaniel "Bud" Judkins, grandson, Matt Judkins and his wife Courtney Burkhart Judkins and great grand-children, Mattie and Jack Judkins, all of Dover. Often joining them were granddaughter Reba Judkins Zacher and her husband Robert Zacher of Kent, Ohio. Kathleen made yearly visits to Texas to spend time with her son Dale and his wife Janis Rinderknecht Andreas. She enjoyed her Texas grandchildren, Derek and his wife April Kramer Andreas and great-grandson Kivan of Crawford, Kyle and his wife Julie Walder Andreas of Austin and Trevor Andreas of Plano.

Friends and family may call at Toland- Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Friday, November 7, 2008 from 6 to 8 PM. A celebration of Kathleen's life will be held on Saturday, November 8 at 1:30 PM at the funeral home, followed by internment at Dover Burial Park.
