Kathleen Isabel Jackson

Kathleen "Katy" Isabel Keener Jackson, 90, of Dover, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Country Club Retirement Center following a long battle with Alzheimers.

Born December 7, 1924 in Dover she was a daughter of the late Iva (Porter) and George Keener. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Robert, who passed away in 2008 and with whom she celebrated 62 years of marriage on July 27, 2007; sisters Ruth (Elden) DeVore, Dorothy (Walter) Barker and brothers John David (Wanda) Keener, Reuben Charles Keener, Meryln Keener, and Joe (Nancy) Keener.

She was a 1943 graduate of Dover High School and during high school, and after, worked for many years at Godfrey Electric in the office as a bookkeeper. Following a 10 year absence from work to raise their daughter, Kathleen later returned to work at People's Drug in Dover as a clerk, where she remained for another 10 years. A member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dover, she was known for her wonderful baking and enjoyed reading and playing with her beloved grandson Alex. Her favorite story was that she never made it off of E. 17th St., having been born there and lived in 2 other homes which were all next to each other.

Katy is survived by her daughter Patricia (John) Jackson Olsson; her beloved grandson, Alexander Jackson Olsson; brother, Art (Doris) Keener; sisters in law Rose Keener and Doris Keener, as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Kathleen's wishes, there will be no services or calling hours. Interment at St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery will take place at a later date. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements.
