Kathryn B. Kaderly

Kathryn B. ''Kate'' Kaderly, 82, of Dover, and a former resident of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, December 10, 2002, in Hennis Care & Assisted Living Centre.

Born August 16, 1920, in Strasburg, she was a daughter of the late Delbert and Mary Mohart VanFossen. Kate graduated from Strasburg High School, and, on December 9, 1939, she wed Wilmer I. Kaderly. The couple were married forty-three years when Wilmer died on October 23, 1983.

Kate was a former employee of Sparta Manufacturing Co., East Sparta, and retired from the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services. She enjoyed gardening , and the canning that went along with it. Kate also enjoyed baking and making candy. She made pies for many funeral dinners. Additionally, Kate liked to crochet. Above all, she loved her family and friends.

Kate was a member of St. Joseph Church, Dover, and the American Association of Retired Persons of both New Philadelphia and Strasburg.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald (Pat) Kaderly of Pensacola, FL, and Willis “Bill” (Peg) Kaderly of Dalton; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Vivian Kurtzman of Wilmot, Lillian Tope of New Philadelphia, and Carol VanFossen of Dover; a brother, Warren VanFossen of Strasburg; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Wilmer, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Eugene, Willis, Deb, and Robert VanFossen.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 14, 2002, at 10 a.m., in St. Joseph Church, with Fr. William L. Arnold officiating. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Strasburg. Following the committal, there will be a reception in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Visitation will be Friday, December 13, 2002, 5-8 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover. A Christian wake service will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m., in the funeral home.
