Kathryn E. (Kate) Hensel, 92, of the Park Village Health Care Center and formerly of Seton Square Dover and a longtime Strasburg resident died Thursday, March 15, 2001 in the center following an extended illness.
She was an employee of the former Garver Bros. Store in Strasburg.
Born April 17, 1908 in Lakeville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William and Katherine Barnhart Mosher.
Kate was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg and the former Strasburg Homemakers Club. She was a former volunteer in the Snack Shop at Union Hospital. She was a 1926 graduate of Loudonville High School. She loved people and enjoyed crocheting, traveling and camping. She was a member of the National Campers and Hikers Assn.
Kate was preceded in death by her husband Cletus James Hensel who died October 24, 1972. She is survived by three sons and five daughters Gene (Vina) Hensel, Bill (Beulah) Hensel, Bob (Rita) Hensel, Mary Bitikofer Malcuit, and Diana (Jim) Harper all of Strasburg; Carol (Kenny) Murphy of Dover; Wanda (Dave) Wells of Westerville, OH; Ginny (Dick) Deuker of Loris, South Carolina. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Millie (Bud) Davis and Betty (Jack) Flatley, one grandson, four brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM in the St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg with Rev. Gerald Schuessler officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Sunday from 2-5 PM.
