Kathryn L. Denmon, 87, of New Philadelphia died Friday, July 23, 2004 at the Morning View Care Center following a brief illness.
She owned and operated Kathryn�(TM)s Beauty Salon in New Philadelphia for forty-five years.
Born March 5, 1917 in Dalton, Georgia she was a daughter of the late Adolph and Essie Barrett Willis, Sr.
Kathryn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dover where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and served as the church clerk for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and was a long time election poll worker.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Denmon who died in 1978.
She is survived by a daughter, Doris Denmon of Temple Hills, Maryland; four sisters, Mildred Johnson of Atlanta, Ga., Grace (George) McKnight of Atlanta, Flossie (Lawrence) Watkins of Atlanta and Eva (Hanford) Stafford of Prospect, Kentucky; brother, Ralph E. Willis of Dalton, Georgia; two grandchildren, Kurtis Patterson and Ayrika Denmon and her husband Daniel Pena; four great grandchildren, Zoe Hill, Xavier Denmon Pena, Rufus Denmon Pena and Rhece Denmon Pena.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Adolph Willis, Jr.; two sisters, Fannie Burse and Ruth Shropshire Tate.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2004 at 1:30 pm in the First Baptist Church at Dover with Rev. Christopher Lowery officiating. Interment will be at Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Friday from 7-9 pm.
