Kathryn Renee “Kathy” Maurer, 65, of New Philadelphia passed away suddenly at her home on Sunday, January 14, 2018.
Born on January 21, 1952 in Marion, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Stella (Coffman) Sparks. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Annie Mae Clere.
Kathy graduated from Marion Harding High School. She worked for many years as a secretary for GTE, where she met her husband and best friend, Ron Maurer. Ron and Kathy had an incredible relationship and were rarely seen apart. They enjoyed traveling and going out to eat which is how they met many close friends throughout the years. Kathy enjoyed cooking and especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to Ron, her companion for over 30 years, she will be missed by her children; Scott (Theresa) Jerew of Marion, Tara Masters (fiance, Juan Lopez) of Massillon; six grandchildren, Emma, Hannah, Madison, Austin, Ana, and Juan; she was expecting her first great grandchild, Zander, in a few months; six brothers and sisters, Helen (Tom) Mathys, John (Beverly) Sparks, Mary (Bruce) Imbody, Lee (Evy) Sparks, Betty (Billy) Watson, Phil (Bonnie) Sparks; her brother- in-law, Charlie Clere; sister-in-law, Darlene (Keith) Dessecker; along with many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00pm. Interment will take place at Dover Burial Park. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 5-7pm.
