Keith R. Johnson

Keith R. Johnson, 83, of Dover passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at New Dawn Health Care Center in Dover.

Born on October 24, 1933 in Wainwright, he was the son of the late Mancel T. “Tom” and Helen (Kopp) Johnson. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie and William Johnson, two sisters, Caroline Sartin and Doris Gall.

He graduated with the class of 1951 from Tuscarawas High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army, where he honorably served our country from July 27, 1954 until June 26, 1956. He was a member of the Tuscarawas VFW.

In 1997, he retired from ODOT, where he worked as a highway worker for many years. He also worked for I.F. Manufacturing in New Philadelphia. He enjoyed spending time outdoors golfing and fishing with his friends.

Keith married, Patricia J. Kappler, on September 13, 1959. In addition to Patricia, he will be sadly missed by his sons; Brian (Amy) Johnson of Dover, Gary (Billie) Johnson of Canal Fulton; three grandchildren, Keith, Alexander, and Garrett; three step-grandchildren, Melissa Mitchell, Stacy Liggett, Kristy Liggett; great grandchildren, Beau and Isabella Mitchell; along with his sister in law, Joanne Johnson.

In honoring Keith’s wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. A private graveside service will take place at Dover Burial Park at a later date.
