Keith R. "Shorty" Espenschied, 78, of Dover died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in the Country Club Retirement Center.
Born October 4, 1936 in Sugarcreek he was a son of the late Leroy and Beatrice Mast Espenschied. Shorty was also preceded in death by a sister, Ann Harmon and brother, Gene Espenschied.
He was employed at Claycraft in Sugarcreek for over 20 years and eventually retired from Dover City Cemeteries after 22 years of service. He was a member of Winfield United Methodist Church and was an avid bowler, having been a member of several different leagues throughout the years. He also loved watching the Indians, Browns and Ohio State Football.
Shorty will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Ruth A. Johns Espenschied whom he married on September 25, 1955; son, Paul "Mike" Espenschied of Dover; brother, Marion Espenschied and his companion, Michelle Mizer of Dover and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Rev. LuAnn Youngman officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-7 pm.
