Kenneth Alan Dietrich Sr.

Kenneth A. “Ken” Dietrich, Sr., age 84, passed away on April 1, 2017 in Community Hospice’s Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Beloved husband of Irene Dietrich; devoted father of Rod (Karen) Dietrich of Tippecanoe, and Ken (Julie) Dietrich, Jr., of Dover; cherished grandfather of Ryan (Renea) Dietrich, Rachelle (Lewis) Shapiro, Joshua Dietrich and Jordan Dietrich; and treasured great-grandfather of Preston Shapiro, Margot Dietrich, Serena Shapiro and Hattie Dietrich; caring uncle to Johnny Feller, Tommy Coe, David Coe, Diane Coe, Jeffery Coe and Ronald Feller. Ken was proceeded in death by his parents, Ralph and Hazel Mills Dietrich, and family members Betty (Ernie) Coe, Phyllis (Don) Feller, and Ralph (Marilyn) Dietrich.



Born April 23, 1932, in Dover, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ralph and Hazel Mills Dietrich. Ken attended Gnadenhutten High School and went on to serve honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War. On July 19, 1954, Ken married the love of his life, Irene Zavasky, and shared over 62 years of life and a happy marriage together. He was employed by The Warner & Swasey Co. in New Philadelphia for 32 years, retiring in 1985. Irene and Ken found great enjoyment in traveling the country by car and playing countless rounds of euchre and cribbage with friends and loved ones. Known for his delicious signature spaghetti sauce, baby blue eyes and gentle nature he was adored by many and will be greatly missed. Ken attended New Philadelphia’s Sacred Heart Church.
