Kenneth D. "Ken" Kurtz

Kenneth D. "Ken" Kurtz, age 83, of Palm Harbor, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 18, 2016, in Clearwater, Florida.

Born June 7, 1932, in Dover, he was a son of the late John and Garnet Sullivan Kurtz. Ken graduated from Dover High School in 1950 and entered the United States Navy in 1951, where he served 4 years aboard the U.S.S. Capricornus. He received an honorable discharge in 1954 and returned home to marry his sweetheart, Nancy A. Walker, on November 27, 1954.

Ken attended the Ohio State University graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, all while working and raising his family. His career spanned 40 years culminating with him becoming president of his own company, Kurtz Associates, before he retired. Ken's career path moved him and his family to many locations including Delaware, Massachusetts, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, New York and Florida. He traveled the world for international business as well.

Ken embodied a strong sense of altruism, which was clearly shown by the numerous times he selflessly helped others, making a lasting impact on many, changing their lives for the better.

He enjoyed many hobbies including tennis, golf, boating, fishing and spending time in the Adirondacks at Lake George, New York.

Ken is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy; his daughters Debra (Michael) McLeod and Victoria (Michael) Stiff; his son, Kenneth D. Kurtz; his grandchildren, Eric and Jeffrey McLeod, Michael and Heather Stiff, Stephanie and Kevin Kurtz; his sisters, Thelma Thoburn, Janice (Hershell) Hatley; and his many loved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved daughter and Angel in Heaven, Corinne Ann Kurtz; and his brothers, J. Eugene and Richard Kurtz.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 24, 10 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. A funeral service will follow at 11. Burial will be in Dover's Ridgecrest Memory Gardens.
