Kenneth V. Countryman, 84, of Dover and a former resident of Middletown, Ohio died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in the Park Village Health Care Center following a period of declining health.
Ken retired in 1990 as an internal auditor for the Endicott Johnson Corporation of New York.
Born April 22, 1927 in Highland County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Daugherty) Countryman.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Dover. Following his 1945 graduation from Bainbridge High School, he proudly served his country in the special services division of the U.S. Army during World War II and spent time in Okinawa and the Philippines. Ken will be remembered as a special grandpa and enjoyed the outdoors doing yard work and gardening. He was also an avid fisherman.
He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife A. Catherine (Blake) Countryman with whom he would have celebrated 54 years of marriage this July 15; a daughter and son in law Kim and Scott Robinson of Dover; two grandchildren Kathleen "Katie" Robinson of Rocky River and Andrew M. Robinson, a student at Ohio University; one sister, Louise Borden of Hillsboro, Ohio along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
Ken's family will receive friends on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 5-8pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Following the visitation, Ken will be cremated and laid to rest in the Dover Burial Park.
