Kim Marie Homman, 50, of New Philadelphia died suddenly on Friday, February 24, 2006 at Union Hospital.
She retired from Tuscarawas Ave. School in New Philadelphia where she taught first grade for 25 years.
Born December 29, 1955 in Dover she was a daughter of Jessie “Jack” and Connie Zifer Reese of Dover.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover, National Education Association and the New Philadelphia Education Association. Kim was a very outgoing person who loved teaching. Throughout her career she was committed to creating a love of learning in the children that she taught. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with family and friends especially during the summer months with the many pool parties she had with Jack. Kim was a 1974 graduate of Dover High School and a 1978 graduate of Mt. Union College where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.
In addition to her parents, Kim is survived by her loving husband Jack J. Homman, with whom she celebrated 17 years of marriage on November 26, 2005.
She is also survived by a son, William Homman of New Philadelphia; two daughters, Stephanie Homman of Atlanta, Georgia and Kimberly (William) Ayers of Holiday, Florida; three grandchildren, Abby, Ashley and Anthony Ayers; two brothers, John Reese and fiancée Gail Garbrandt of Dover and Gary (Darlene) Reese of Palm Harbor, Florida.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. The body will be cremated following the funeral mass. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover on Tuesday from 5-8 pm with Christian Wake services starting at 7:45 pm.
