Kristy Dawn Rothacher

Kristy Dawn Rothacher, 37, of Winfield, passed away on June 5, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family, and in the arms of her Mother. She ran through heaven's gates into the open arms of her grandmother.

Kristy fought a life long battle with cerebral palsy, but a short battle with cancer that took a toll on her. Kristy was born April 18, 1974 in Dover and was the daughter of Tom and Margaret (Alleshouse) Rothacher. She grew up in the Dundee area. She graduated from Starlight School in 1995. Following graduation, she attended SEI. For the last couple of years, Kristy attended Avenues of Adventure and lived her life to the fullest.

She loved spending time outside or riding in the front seat of Bob's truck. Kristy enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews play ball and scrapbooking. She loved playing Wii with anyone whom she could con into playing with her. Her absolute favorite pastime was baking cookies with her mother.

Kristy will be sadly missed by mother and step-father; Margaret and Bob Getchey, with whom she resided. Other survivors include; a brother, Tom (Heather) Rothacher of Dundee; sisters, Angie (Jason) Bosler; Stacy (Josh) Robinson both of Dundee; nieces and nephews, Alexis, Emily, Dustin, Dakota, Zoe, Austin, Destiny, Braden, Corbin, Branson, Brandi, Conner, and McKenna; paternal grandparents, Betty Rothacher of Dover, and Gene and Myrtle Brown of New Philadelphia. She will also be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She leaves behind her special caregiver, Carol Ferguson and her puppy, Marley.

Kristy is preceded in death by her father, Tom D. Rothacher; grandparents, Robert and Evelyn Alleshouse, George Rothacher, and her nephew Zander Robinson.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 11-1:00 pm and from 3-5:00 pm at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. A celebration of Kristy's life will begin at 5:00 pm with Elder Glenn Carlisle officiating. A meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center following the service. Burial will take place at later date at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover.
