Larry E. Auman, 85, of Dover, passed away on November 29, 2023, in New Philadelphia, Ohio. He was surrounded by loved ones at the Community Hospice Truman House.
Born on October 8, 1938, Larry brought joy and creativity into the lives of those around him. He was a talented musician who found solace in playing the steel guitar. Larry's passion for electronics led him to establish Auman Recording Studios in Dover.
Larry's dedication to preserving the history of radio and television broadcasting was evident through his ownership of the Auman Radio and Television Museum in Dover. This unique establishment served as a testament to his appreciation for the transformative power of media.
After graduating from Dover High School in 1956, he continued his studies at DeVry University in Chicago, focusing on electronics. His commitment to learning allowed him to delve deeper into his craft and stay at the forefront of technological advancements. He was an passionate and active licensed member of the Ham Radio Club for many years.
Aside from his professional pursuits, Larry had a vibrant set of hobbies and interests that brought him great joy. He had an unwavering passion for classic cars and was an active member of the Custom Kemp Car Club. Attending car shows allowed him to revel in the nostalgia and marvel at the timeless beauty of vintage automobiles. Larry also had a discerning eye for antiques and enjoyed building an impressive collection over the years.
He was preceded in death by his father Walter C. "Bud" Auman, mother, Verna Mae Wunderlich Auman, his infant, brother Walter Auman Jr., and his brother Curtis Auman.
He will be sadly missed by his son; Tracy (Nedra) Lovell of New Philadelphia; two step-grandchildren; four great-step grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.
To honor Larry's remarkable life, visitation will be held on December 4, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at 11:00 am with Pastor Bonnie Grimaldi officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. A meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center following the service of committal.
