Larry C. Van Camp, 64, of Canton, passed away peacefully, January 18, 2012, following an extended illness.
He was born in Hartville on November 18, 1947, the son of the late Chester and Ella Van Camp.
Following graduation from Lake High School, he entered the military, honorably serving in the Army during the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the service, Larry entered the business world. He spent 20 years at Office Equipment Company as Service Manager and Graphic Enterprises in several management capacities.
Larry was quick to laugh and found pleasure in sharing memorable moments like: playing Santa at the office party, campfires at his cabin, hunting with friends, cheering on the McKinley Bulldogs, and gathering at the Geisen Haus.
Along with his wife of 30 years, Pat (Seikel) Van Camp, he will be greatly missed by his son, Zach, and other family members and friends including: brothers, Harold (Gail) Van Camp of Illinois, Bill (Sally) Eshelman of Canton and Jack (Georgia) Eshelman of Massillon; sisters, Mary Alice (Larry) McGhee of Akron, Karen (Randall) Wardlaw of Georgia, Janita Heinbuch of Hartville, Carol (Eshelman) Kinsley of Canton and Gail (Eshelman) Campbell of Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his sister, Birdene (Van Camp) Laflin, brother Kendall Eshelman, and brothers-in-law, Ed Campbell and Ken Heimbuch.
A funeral mass celebrating Larry's life will be held Saturday, January 28, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 613 N. Tuscarawas Ave., Dover with Fr. Matt Hoover officiating. Following mass, family and friends are invited to a meal at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover on Friday from 6-9 p.m. The Rosary will be prayed at 8:45 p.m.
