Larry L. "Butch" Davidson, 77, a lifelong resident of Dover died unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 16, 2015 in the Union Hospital Emergency Room.
Larry was born Nov. 7, 1937 in Dover, the son of the late Harry and Frances (Jarvis) Davidson. He was also preceded by a brother in law, Glen "Hoppy" Reidenbach.
He was a retired employee of the MCA Sign Company in Massillon. Following retirement, he worked at ACE Hardware, Buehlers, and was currently a driver for Horizons. In his early years, Larry provided towing service with the Dover Auto Supply.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Dover. He was also active in the Dover Moose Lodge #707, Dennison Railroad Depot Museum and the Polar Express, Schoebrunn Village, and the Lutheran Brotherhood. He graduated from Dover High School in 1955 and honorably served his country in the US Navy. He was a passionate woodworker.
He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife of nearly 58 years, Carol (Chaudrue) Davidson with whom he married on Aug. 19, 1956; five children, Mark (fianc Paula Kerr) Davidson of Dover, Todd (Debra) Davidson of East Sparta, Kevin (companion, Sandra Croy) Davidson of Dover, Lisa (companion, John Agar) Davidson of Taylor, Michigan and Brent (Kelly) Davidson of Dover; his canine daughter, Maggie May; eleven grandchildren, Corey Wolf, Melissa Davidson, Ashley (Dusty) Tice, Janae Davidson, Kayla (Richard) Martineau, Scott Pisony, Jason Davidson, Erin Davidson, Chase Davidson, Brandon Davidson, and Bryan (Karly) Davidson along with six great grandchildren and a sister, Karen Reidenbach.
Funeral services celebrating Larry's life will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015 beginning at 2pm in the Grace Lutheran Church at Dover with military honors by the Dover VFW and Patriot Guard to follow. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover on Monday from 5-8pm and Tuesday at the church from 1-2pm.
