Larry D. Maurer

Larry D. Maurer, 85, of New Philadelphia passed away at his home on Sunday, May 28, 2023. He was born on November 19, 1937, in Dover to the late Willard and Corinne Fisher Maurer.

Larry was a 1955 graduate of Dover High School, where he was the president of the senior class. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Education from Miami of Ohio University in 1959, where he was a proud member and president of the Lambda Chi Alpha chapter.

Larry's passion for education led him to teach at West Lafayette and Strasburg High School for six years before he became a Land Agent for Landscaping and Reclamation Inc., where he worked tirelessly for 25 years.

Outside of work, Larry had a deep love for animals and sports. He was an avid supporter of Dover and Miami University football teams. Whether it was spending time with family or cheering on his favorite team, Larry always had a smile on his face and brought joy to those around him.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Thiery Kemp Maurer who he married on May 31, 1968; daughter, Jill or Oregon, and three grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Larry was also preceded in death by his brother, Tim Maurer.

His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. Larry will be deeply missed, but always remembered for his kindness. The family would like to thank the staff at Community Hospice for their wonderful care and neighbors, Elain and Tracy for always being there for Larry and Thiery.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory.  There are no public services or calling hours.
