Larry W. Metzger

Larry W. Metzger, 63, of Strasburg died Saturday, January 5, 2002 at Union Hospital following a sudden illness.

He worked as a meat cutter, Strasburg Police Officer, manager of Malcuit's Tavern and was the owner and operator of La Cantinas and Metzger's.

Born July 6, 1938 in Gnadenhutten he was a son of the late William I. and Marjorie Tharp Metzger Hanni.

He was a member of Strasburg United Methodist Church, FOP, National Inspector for Ponies of America Club, coached Little League Baseball for 13 years, served on Strasburg Village Council and the Strasburg Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed taking care of his horses, cooking and catering for local events and babysitting his grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife Kathleen Metzger.

He is also survived by two sons: Brent (Linda) Metzger
Bruce (Marla) Metzger

Daughter: Julie Metzger and her fiancé Lucas Garcia

Brother: William O. (Glorya) Metzger all of Strasburg

11 grandchildren: Leah, Travis, Erin, Brock, Marcus, Curtis, Lucas, Nicholas, Danielle,
Jaleel and La'ree

Great granddaughter: Hannah

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at 2:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Steven Court officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg. Friends can call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
