Laura L. Mallernee, 85, of Bolivar passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital.
Born in Woodsfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Ellen (Dye) Ward. She married Bill G. Mallernee on June 28, 1958. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2021. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jefferey Mallernee, and four brothers and four sisters.
Laura was a graduate of Bolivar High School where she was valedictorian. She retired in 1998 after 11 years as a teller at Key Bank in Canton. After retirement, she began working at the Bolivar Library. She was a lifelong learner and avid reader and gardener. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Bill.
She was an active member at Bolivar United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
Laura is survived by her children; Rev. William L. (Patricia) Mallernee of Sugarcreek, Lori (Mike) Norris of Bolivar; her brother, William (Anna) Ward of Marietta; along with her grandchildren, Karley (Tyler) Sargent, Kacey, and Cameron Norris, Patti (Jason) Hart, Leanne, Bill (Crystal) and Tom (Tina) Mallernee, along with 15 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Bolivar United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 1:00 pm. Friends can gather at the church from 12:30 until the service starts at 1:00 pm on Sunday. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory of Dover are handling the arrangements.
