Laura Major Morrow

Laura E. (Major) Morrow, 93, of 244 Fair Ave. N.E., New Philadelphia, Ohio died Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at Beacon Point in Uhrichsville, Ohio following a brief illness.

She retired in 1977 from Union Hospital in Dover where she worked for seventeen years.

Born July 12, 1912 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Louis H. and Jessie Mae Patterson Stechow.

Laura was the oldest living member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia and was a former member of the Blue Star Mothers.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, David W. Major who died January 25, 1968 and her second husband, George W. Morrow who died in 1993.

Laura is survived by two sons David R.(Christina) Major of Dover and Robert W. Major of Fowler, Ohio; a granddaughter, Kristy Tidrick of Stone Creek and a brother, Paul R.(Jane) Stechow of Burlington, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Midred Griffith and two brothers, Maynard W. Stechow and Robert H. Stechow.
Pastor Kelly Brown will officiate funeral services celebrating Laura's life on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 pm.
