LaVerne N. Contini, 84, of Dover died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, in the Altera Clare Bridge Cottage at New Philadelphia.
Born Oct. 2, 1916, at Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late William and Harriette McKnight Bair.
A 1934 graduate of Uhrichsville High School, LaVerne was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Dover and was active in it’s Christian Mothers club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had also been a member of AARP.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband, John N. Contini, who died Oct. 26, 2000.
Her survivors include, one son, Jerry and Sandy Contini of New Philadelphia; one daughter, Carol and Andy Ruszin of New Philadelphia; a brother, Charles and Ruth Young of Uhrichsville; eight grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael Martin, Kevin Evans, Amanda and Lucas Ferguson, Craig, Eric and Tony Contini; and eight great-grandchildren, Christopher, Emily, Samantha and Caitlin Ferguson, Taylor, Abbey, Joseph Martin, and Tyler Kenst.
In addition to her parents and husband, LaVerne was preceded in death by a son, John Jr.; a brother, Hershel Bair; a sister, Hazel Vondriska; and a granddaughter, Angela Contini.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at 2:30 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Christian Wake service at 7:30 p.m.
