Lennie J. Malterer, 63, of New Philadelphia died Saturday evening at the Community Hospice (Truman) House in New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.
Lennie was an employee of the Marlite Corporation where he worked for 27 years.
Born Oct. 13, 1954 in Dennison, Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles Malterer and Mary Lee Korns. He is survived by his stepmom, Norma Wells of New Philadelphia.
He was a graduate of the New Philadelphia High School Class of 1974. He was a passionate Harley Davidson motorcyclist and most enjoyed riding with his friends.
He will be sadly missed by his four brothers and sisters including Don (Becky) Malterer of Bolivar, Ada (Tim) Mears and Tina (Rich) Dessecker both of New Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews including his special nephew, Jason (Bethanny) Malterer of New Philadelphia and his special aunt who was like a mother, Nancy Parcell of Uhrichsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Phil Malterer and a sister, Toni Malterer.
A celebration of Lennie’s life will be held Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 beginning at 11 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7pm.
