Leonard Conrad Margletta, age 84, died of natural causes in Atlanta on September 30, 2024. Leonard, also known as Snooky, was born on November 1, 1939, to the late Philip and Irma Margletta. 

Leonard attended and graduated from St Joseph High School and was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Dover. He worked at Union Camp/International Paper for 30 years. 

He loved gardening, boating, and fishing and was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State, and Notre Dame football teams. 

He delivered Meals on Wheels until he suffered a stroke in 2019. Leonard greatly enjoyed the Senior Center and appreciated the drivers who faithfully transported him between the Center and home. 

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Jane (Altier), on July 20, 2021. 

He was the devoted father of his three children; Susan (Jack) Harmon, Julie Thompson, and Jeff (Erin) Margletta. He dearly loved his grandchildren Jack and Josie Margletta, Gabriella Thompson, Drew Harmon, Claire, Ethan, and Emma Giesey. He is also survived by his loving sister, Andrea White, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Leonard was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathy Reardon and Phyllis Margletta. Leonard arranged in life to donate his body to the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Atlanta for medical education and scientific research.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at a memorial gathering at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard, Dover on Saturday, October 12 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm. To sign an online guestbook for Leonard, visit the obituary link on the funeral home’s website.
