Leora I. Barlock

Leora I. Barlock, 96, of Dover passed away peacefully in the Community Hospice Truman House on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

She was born on May 27, 1924 in Magnolia and was a daughter of the late Henry and Pearl Lanning McDonald. Leora was also preceded in death by her sisters, Verla Markin, Auldean Reidenbach; brothers, Weldon, John and Donovan McDonald and Paul Rust.

She retired from the former Rink’s in New Philadelphia, and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dover. Leora was also a member of the Dover VFW, Eagles Club, and was a volunteer for the COAD Foster Grandparents Group. She loved all sports, but especially loved rooting for her Cleveland Browns and Indians.

A wonderful and loving mother and grandmother, Leora will be sadly missed by her children, John Barlock of New Philadelphia and Thomas Barlock of Dover; daughter, Elizabeth (Richard) Vogt of Uhrichsville; sister, Ruth White of Dover; brothers, Leonard McDonald of Beach City, Robert McDonald of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Sandra and Sarah Vogt, Barbara Rankin, Thomas and Travis Barlock and Annie Shuayb; great grandchildren, Gavin Rankin, Jordan Barlock, Layal Shuayb; and special friends, Dianne (Steve) Benson of New Philadelphia and Debi Barlock of Spring Hill, Florida.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 15 starting at 2:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Rev. Brian Flood officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Following the burial, a luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. The family will be greeting friends on Monday from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Due to Covid-19 masks and social distancing will be required.
