Lester S. Penrod, 84, of Dover, died Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at Union Hospital following a long illness.
He had worked as a coal-miner for the former Eberhart Coal Co.
Born May 7, 1917 at Dover, he was son of the late Samuel & Lovey Mann Penrod.
Lester was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ at Dover. He enjoyed being outdoors and camping. A noted storyteller, he also enjoyed working with crafts, ceramics and playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Penrod, who died July 22, 1999.
Survivors include: two daughters; JoAnn Hoover & Lola Hoover both of Dover, 3 grandchildren; Steven & Emily Hoover of Dover, Christopher & Connie Hoover of New Phila. and B.J. Hoover of Dover, 4 great grandchildren; Jeffery, Jennifer, Jason & Andy Hoover, and two sisters; Donna Bridgeman and Betty Amistadi both of Dover.
In addition to his wife and parents, Lester was preceded in death by: 2 sons-in-law; James & Wilbert Hoover, 1 grandchild, 2 brothers and a sister.
A public graveside service will be held Friday, March 1, at 12:30pm in Dover Burial Park with Rev. Steve Daniels officiating. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover, on Friday from 11:30am - 12:15pm.
