Lew Roy “Bud” Hennen, 75, of New Philadelphia, passed away suddenly Tuesday, November 5, 2002.
A lifelong, loyal employee of the former McKnight Trucks, now Allstate Trucking in New Philadlephia, Bud was one of the most highly decorated large-truck salesmen in the United States.
Born October 6, 1927 at Cadiz, he was son of the late Roy & Ethel Mellish Hennen.
Bud earned the Purple Heart during his ten years of service as Chief Petty Officer in the Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict.
He will be remembered as a devoted family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed being outdoors, farming, gardening, fishing and deer hunting with his son. Bud had also previously been active in area bowling leagues and was a member of the Dover United Methodist Church.
Bud is survived by his wife, Louise Eickleberry Hennen, with whom he would have celebrated 47 years of marriage on November 19.
Other survivors include: a son; Donald Hennen of the home, daughter; Debbie (John) Ryan of Dover, two grandchildren; Chad (Sandy) Ryan of Titusville, PA, and Kari Ryan of Dover, a great granddaughter; Autumn Nicole Ryan and step great grandson Jacob Rash.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by two sisters.
Due to renovations at Toland�(TM)s Herzig�(TM)s New Philadelphia location, funeral services will be held Friday, November 8, at 1:00pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Rev Fred Battles officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-9pm.
