Lewis A. “Lou” Festi, 73, of Dover, died Wednesday, June 13, in Mercy Medical Center at Canton.
Born February 7, 1934 at Dover, he was the son of the late John & Margheri Zambotti Festi.
In the early 1960's, he operated Lou's Auto Electric in New Philadelphia and also the former Sinclair Station in Dover. Later, he retired from McKnight Truck (Allstate Peterbilt) in New Philadelphia after 34 years of service.
In his spare time, Lou could often be found playing cards and talking with friends. He was also an avid bowler, and enjoyed fishing. While younger, he had also raced at Midvale Speedway �" something that, upon reflection, he wished he could have spent more time doing. He was a life member of the Dover Eagles, Dover VFW, and was a member of the Zoar-Road Gun Club.
Lou honorably served our country in the Army during the late 1950's
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Delores “Sue” Hinerman.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Rhonda Mann, Chris (Larry) Kuemerle, and Gaylynne (Larry) Clay, all of Dover; two sons, Todd Festi and his companion Dawn Morris of New Philadelphia, and Chad (Amy) Festi of Dover; six grandchildren, Lori Hutchinson, Derek Mann, Cheri Clay, Seth Clay, Danelle Festi, and Noah Festi; six great grandchildren; a sister, Lena Antonelli of Dover; and three brothers, Frank (Angie) Festi, Ralph (Marie) Festi, and John Festi, all of Dover.
In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Keith Mann, and two brothers, Virgil & Lee Festi.
Pastor David Carrick will officiate a service celebrating Lou�(TM)s life on Monday, June 18, at 2:00 p.m. in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Interment will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Friends may call in the funeral home on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
