Lillie C. Mills, 88, of Dover went to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 3, 2009 in the New Dawn Retirement Center.
She was born May 4, 1920 in Uhrichsville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edward and Edith (Bell) Simpson.
She was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia. She devoted her life to the Lord having spent many years, along with her friend, Mary Bower, witnessing her faith to area nursing facilities. She led many Bible study Groups. She and her husband Bill shared their love of music with others. They also enjoyed dancing.
Lillie was also a talented poet and gave total credit to her Lord. She also enjoyed her dogs Pug, Tina, and Tammy. She was a longtime supporter of Sonny and Donna Kinsey's ministry.
In addition to her parents, Lillie was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Mills who died January 23, 1995. They shared nearly sixty years of marriage. She was also preceded by her brother, Ralph Simpson and a sister, Margaret Flounders.
She is survived by her family including Vonnie Legg, Shari (husband, Mark) Cox and Mike (wife, Pam) Legg all of Dennison and Rev. Dan (wife, Gail) Legg of Dover.
A celebration of Lillie's life will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with Rev. Bill Sowers officiating. Interment will be in the East Avenue Cemetery. A reception following services will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11am.
