Linda J. Wilson, 55, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Linda fought a brave fight against cancer that had been diagnosed in March.
Born January 19, 1950, in Dennison, she was a daughter of Lillian McBeth Chek of New Philadelphia, and the late Albert Chek. Linda graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1968. She was a homemaker who enjoyed making afghans and doilies for family and friends. Linda also liked working in the restoration of Barbie dolls. She was an animal lover who cared for strays, and often took them in.
Linda was a member of Uhrichsville Moose Auxiliary 779, and the Army-Navy Club and Eagles, both of Dover.
In addition to her mother, Lillian, she is survived by a daughter, Melisa “Misty” Minor of New Philadelphia; a son, Jeffrey Swinderman of Akron; a granddaughter, Bryce Ann Minor; two sisters, Shirley (Terry) Robinson and Doris (Rich) Torgler, both of New Philadelphia; a brother, David (Kathy) Chek, also of New Philadelphia; three nieces and three nephews; special uncle and aunts, Floyd and Kitty McBeth and Doris Aldergate; and good, good friend, Mickey Gasser.
Besides her father, Linda was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and Albert Mark Chek.
Linda�(TM)s life will be celebrated in a service Monday, May 9, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating. Burial will be in East Avenue Cemetery, New Philadelphia. Following the committal, there will be a reception in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 803 Boulevard, Dover.
