Linda L. Ashkettle, 71, of Dover passed away surrounded by her family at the Community Hospice House on Saturday, June 28, 2014 following an extended illness.
Born in Dover on June 26, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Roy D. "Toady" and Juanita "Jean" Howell. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Juanita Uebel.
She was a 1961 graduate of Dover High School and later attended Westmorland Community College in Youngwood, PA. On April 20, 1963, she married the love of her life, Delbert Ashkettle. She assisted Del with the operation of several business, including; D & D Plastics in Dover, Riders Inc. in Pennsylvania, Cadio Industries in Cadiz, RKS Laminates in Cadiz, and Cadiz Custom Components.
Linda loved animals of all kind. She enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, and collecting all sorts of teddy bears. She also had a talent with computers and loved keeping up with the newest technology trends. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and absolutely adored her grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Del; three children, Jeffrey (Tammy) Ashkettle of Tiltonsville, OH, Richard (Becky) Ashkettle of Pittsburgh, PA, Melinda (Eric) Hilling of Parkersburg, WV; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her nieces, Paula Hale of Dover and Melissa Kyler of Sneads Ferry, NC; brother in-law, Bill Uebel of Dover; and her special friends, Denny and Sally Hagey of New Philadelphia.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dennis Rohn officiating. Interment will take place at Dover Burial Park. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served in the fellowship hall at the First Moravian Church in Dover. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 5-7 pm.
