Linda S. Gordon

Linda Sue Gordon, 70, died from prolonged illnesses at her home in Strasburg on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Born August 5, 1940 in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Smiley D. and Gertrude M. Frantz Gordon. She was preceded in death by her siblings Gay Elaine Gordon, Richard E. Gordon, Ronald E. Gordon, and Judith A. Brooker. She is a survived by her sister Sally K. (Garry) DeVault of Strasburg.

Linda's faith was an important part of her life, and she was proud to have been born again in 1990 at the Word of Faith Church in Dover. She also attended Sugarcreek Free Methodist Church. Linda helped to build the family business, Gordon Printing in Strasburg, and began working there in 1954. In 1971 she joined TOPS, and in 1984 she became self-employed as an Area Coordinator for Heart of Ohio TOPS, Inc. In her youth, Linda enjoyed playing classical piano music, performing in plays, singing in the church choir, and sports writing for the high school newspaper. She graduated from Dover High School in 1958. Linda loved animals and treasured the companionship of five small dogs. She also enjoyed doing crafts, visiting her friends in Amish country, watching old Hollywood films, spending holidays with her family, as well as cooking and baking.

Linda will be lovingly remembered and honored by her children: Lori Liggett of Weston, Robbie Gordon, Lisa (Ken) Edie of Strasburg, Leanna Reed of Massillon, Jason Liggett of Strasburg, Jeremy (Bremy) Liggett of Dover, and Joshua Liggett also of Dover. Linda's seven beloved grandchildren called her Mimi and they will sadly miss her: Brianna Grillon, Kenny Edie, Miranda Liggett, Ethan Edie, Braden Liggett, Joshua Liggett II, and A.J. Liggett.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 1:30 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Jim Baker officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Following the burial a luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 pm.
