Lois Jane Recchiuti, 79, of Forest, VA, and formerly of Dover, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, in Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg, VA, following a long illness.
Born, Nov. 9, 1928, in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Newton C. and Molly Grinder Harder. Jane, as she was called, graduated from Dover High School, and married Albert F. Recchiuti on June 19, 1948. She was a homemaker - a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Jane was a member of St. Joseph Church, Dover, and the church's Regina Study Club. She very much enjoyed the game of golf, and was a former ladies' flight champion at Union Country Club in Dover. She was also an avid reader.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff (Toni) Recchiuti of Dublin, and Greg Recchiuti of Forest, VA; two grandsons, Matthew and Michael Recchiuti; two sisters, Kathleen Easlick of Wildwood, FL, and Reba (Kenneth) Pringle of Dover; two brothers, Kenneth (Eva Mae) Harder of Orlando, FL, and Ralph (Mary Louise) Harder of Gaffney, SC;
several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, on Sept. 20, 2005, and by her twin sister, Jean Lagatta, with whom she was very close.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday, Oct. 6, at 1:30 p.m., in St. Joseph Church, with Fr. William L. Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dover. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Toland-Herzig Honarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover. Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Sunday, Oct. 5, 1 4 p.m., with a Christian wake service being held at 3:30.
