Lola L. Conner

Lola L. Conner, 81, of Strasburg died on February 15, 2008 at home, with her family by her side, after a short battle with cancer.

Born February 9, 1927, in Ewing, IL, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (Baxter) Johnson. She married her husband, Lail E. Conner on May 3, 1947.

Lola was a very active democrat. She was the former president of the Strasburg area Democratic Women and was also a charter member of the Tuscarawas County Democratic Women. She was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church for many years. She spent a lot of time playing in a Strasburg card club. Lola truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She especially loved attending their school events.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by: two sons, Allen (Cindy) Conner of Dover, Gary (Dale Ann) Conner of Strasburg; a sister, Flora Crowder of Mt. Vernon, IL; five grandchildren, Claire (Jesse) Bender of Coshocton, Kelly (Ashley) Price of Fairlawn, Haley (Mark) Elvin of Kailua, Hawaii, Quinn (Staci) Conner of Canton, Torey Conner of Beaufort, South Carolina; two step-grandchildren, Max Grossenbacher Jr. of Akron and Amy (Chip) Long of South Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Ariel Eveland of Holmesville, Zane Conner of Canton; and two step-great grandchildren, Trisha Gibb of Dover and Savanah Long of South Carolina.

Her son, Roger Lail Conner along with four brothers and three sisters, precede Lola in death.

A celebration of Lola's life will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 1:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Strasburg, with Pastor Steve Woyen officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg. Friends are invited to call at the Strasburg funeral home on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 4-6 pm.
