Loren A. Griesen, age 81, of Dover, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 8, 2016, following a long illness.
Born December 5, 1934, at Dover, he was a son of the late Ernest G. and Chloetta Schilling Griesen. Loren graduated from Dover High School in 1952, and married the former Carrol Jones on October 3, 1954. He was employed by the Union Camp Corporation at Dover for over forty years, retiring in 1997.
Loren was an active member of Dover's Foursquare Gospel Church, where he was a deacon, usher, Sunday school teacher and treasurer and belonged to the men's ministry. He was a loving and devoted family man who especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loren was also a sports fan, following the Dover Tornadoes, Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers.
Survivors include his wife, Carrol; his children, Karen Griesen of Baltic, Beth (Kenny) Jones of Dover, Michael (Julie) Griesen of Maryville, Tennessee, and Michelle (Larry Jr.) Nardi of Uhrichsville; his grandchildren, Cory (Juli) Jones, Adam Jones, Larry Paul Nardi III and Landon Nardi, Micaiah, Katriel and Janayah Griesen; his great-grandchildren, Alanah and Gabrielle Jones; his sister, Patricia Steinbaugh of Mineral City; his brother, Richard (Janet) Griesen of Fort Myers, Florida; his sister-in-law, Dixie Griesen of East Canton; and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Loren was preceded in death by his sisters, Mila Peterman, Iva Elliott and Donna Yenny; and his brothers, Glen, Edward, Ernest Jr. and Kenny Griesen.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 11, at 11:30 a.m., in the Foursquare Gospel Church, with Pastor David Wing officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the church hall.
